We are pleased to announce that 2 new P.H.’s are joining Infinito Safaris. Gerhard Delport will exclusively be managing all our bow hunting and Steven Bosch is going to join us to focus on the Plains Game. We would like to assure all our clients/friends that these two young men brings a lot of experience to Infinito. We also made sure that they hunt and work on the same principals Charl and Frederik does. The family grows bigger to offer a better service.
New Hunting Area:
The hunting rights to an all exclusive bow hunting property fell into our laps. This 5000ha (12500acre) bushveldt jewel has NEVER been hunted commercially, and a must visit for all bow hunting fanatics.
Mozambique
Nothing to report at this point in time as we have been tied down in South Africa hunting. What a life! Any case. We are looking forward to a very special and water exploding season in Mozambique starting in October. There are still some open weeks with KILLER deals floating around. Don’t miss out on the tropical fishing adventure of a lifetime!
Freshwater Fishing
Infinito's Pro guide Carel van Rooyen managed to fool this late winter bass out of the Olifants river in the Limpopo province on Saturday 15 August 2009. He used a Spinnerbait (Chartruese/White) to convince this lunker into a boat ride. Estimated weight is about 5lbs. We would also like to congratulate Carel and his partner Denham Gosling with winning the Mokolo Bass classic. Let us know if you are interested in fishing for bass, trout or yellowfish with Carel, when hunting with us in S.A
Hunt Report
The season is moving on now, and the veldt getting drier. One would think the hunting gets easier, but as I always say this late in the season…”Their (animals) handbreak’s are loose now”
We had some bad luck with the Bushpigs, and I’m still waiting for the lucky hunter that can sit still long enough in the dark to become one of only a small handful of hunters that specifically, and successfully hunted Bushpig.
Very good Mountain Reedbuck was taken by Dmitry, Matt and Bernard. We were also surprised by the good warthog that appeared out of the “woodwork”. 5 Boars were taken with Tusks over the much sought after 10” mark. Well done to Ian that shot a very good Duiker as well as the Blesbok at 300m’s! Yes Ian, I had to tell the truth now, it was 300m’s……
I also want to make special mentioning of Matt’s 27,5” Nyala bull. It was a great, old animal that was hunted hard. Lewis made a great shot on his Zebra and also harvested a very respectable Black Wildebeest.
To all our clients from America, England, Sweden and Wales that hunted the last two months with us:
“You came as strangers and all left as friends, thank you for a great time spent with you all!”

SUCCESS STORIES
We must make special mention of our friend Larry Swartz from the U.S. taking a very good Buffalo bull in July. Larry jumped on one of our special deals for a Buffalo hunt, and also booked the services of our Big Five Productions to make a professional DVD of his hunting Safari. The hunt with Larry started off with a bang. Larry thought it good to bring his .470 Krieghoff and .416 Remington for the hunt. The plains game fell with perfect one shot kills, and I knew we were in for a great hunt. After relaxing for a couple of day and harvesting a very good Warthog and Waterbuck, we moved to our Buffalo hunting area next to the Kruger National Park. We arrived very early in the morning, and decided to jump into the deep side and start hunting.
We drove straight to a waterhole where we know the Buffalo drink early in the morning. Sure enough, the fresh tracks of three big Dagga boys greeted us at the waterhole. After walking 100 yards on the spoor, the tracker turned around and informed us that he knows the Buff is heading for a salt lick that he knows well. We made a short cut and approached the salt lick area with the wind in our face. Then the fun started…….
A herd of about 20 Buffalo were also in the vicinity and the wind start twirling. What a nightmare! We crawled for about 150 yards towards the Buffalo, and I got Larry into position. We were now 100yards away. Larry wanted to shoot with his double, but after summing up the situation asked me to bring his .416 up. Solly was there and the rifles changed hands. Larry took aim and send a 400gr. Barnes flatnose solid right through the big black bull’s heart. I instructed Larry to reload immediately, but the death below that rumbled towards us signalled the dying of this magnificent beast.
We had some fun with some young bulls that did not want to depart, but all ended well. Congrats Larry! That’s the way we like to hunt the Black death, one shot through the heart. Larry went on to shoot a respectable bag of Plains Game and we must make special note of the Eland Bull he shot at 300yards running, in the NECK! But that’s a story for another day. The Infinito family is looking forward to seeing you and your friends in May 2010 Larry, THANKS for a GREAT time!
